Earlier this week Xbox announced the closures of some studios, Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin. Arkane Austin was known for Redfall, a game once heavily touted by Xbox as a key piece of Game Pass. Tango created the excellent Evil Within series and the equally excellent Hi-Fi Rush. I’m definitely saddened by the Tango announcement, as they were a super talented studio and I was looking forward to what was next from them. This news was later followed by a report by The Verge that states Xbox is floating the idea of a Game Pass price hike, along with the possibility of running Call of Duty on the service. I never like to report the closures of studios and the loss of jobs, and this one is a big miss by Xbox in my opinion. Sad to see this happen, and equally sad that there’s a possible price hike, as the service is already at 16 dollars now. If any new developments pop up, you will read it here soon.
UPDATE: Also affected by these closures are two more Bethesda subsidiary devs: Alpha Dog Games, developer of Mighty Doom for mobile, and Roundhouse Games, which is actually being absorbed into the ESO team.
