Yacht Club Games yesterday held a live YouTube presentation not only commemorating the 10th anniversary of its classic series, Shovel Knight, but also used this time to reveal several Shovel Knight-related announcements, and to announce a brand-new Shovel Knight game. While we didn’t get any footage of the new game as such, or a name to put with the project, at least it is confirmation that a new game is in the works.

There were hints and clues that could lead you to surmise an idea of the title through the other games: Shovel Knight Dig, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, and Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. The presentation went on to state, “We’re committed to crafting an experience that not only honors the Shovel Knight legacy but also pioneers groundbreaking, innovative gameplay mechanics. This isn’t just another sequel – it’s a bold new adventure that will launch Shovel Knight into an entirely new dimension of gaming.”

While we wait for any news on the next game in the coming months, we also were given info on the upcoming Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX. This will act as the definitive version of the 2014 indie darling, including rewind functions, save states, online multiplayer, cheats and a lot more. Also cool that they chose to go with the naming conventions of GBC remakes from back in the day, as that scratched a nostalgia itch I didn’t even realize I had. DX currently has nor release window or announced platforms, but you can expect to see it on all the usual suspects. We also got news of new DLC for Shovel Knight Dig and Pocket. I love the original Shovel Knight, and haven’t playes the other games, so this appears to be a great time to jump in during this celebration of our heroes’ 10th anniversary. Get to diggin’!

what did you guys thank of the new announcements? Were you already a Shovel Knight fan, or will you dig into this game now?
